An APN or Access Point Name is the entry point at which an IoT device enters the mobile network. In providing the network settings and configurations, it acts as a bridge between the device and the provider’s network.
Each mobile network operator has its own APN. When configuring an IoT device for cellular connectivity, the APN settings need to be provisioned according to the communication plan of the device.
Private APN
It’s possible to use a private APN to increase the security of your IOT connectivity. A private APN is specifically configured for an organisation’s exclusive use, as opposed to being shared by multiple users.
Private APNs are commonly used in settings that require a higher level of privacy, security, and control.
